OUR WORK

We have provided numerous disability inclusion services which are always directly or indirectly positively affecting the lives of people with disabilities.

Financial Inclusion

With funding from the Disability Rights Fund, we worked with the Nigeria Association of the Blind to promote financial inclusion for persons with disability. We conducted situational analysis of the financial inclusion ecosystem in Nigeria and used the findings to engage stakeholders in the sector. Whilst our findings have been used by both the regulators and financial service providers to accelerate access, the gap is still far and we hope to explore alternative and engaging solution to ensure people with disabilities can access, use and gain quality financial services.

Gender-based Violence

Using participatory approach, we are investigating the root causes of gender-based violence for women with disabilities in Nigeria. We are generating evidence insights to promote the prevention of GBV against women with disabilities both in the workplace, community and society at large. This is funded by the Ford Foundation.

Inclusive Education

Through the Dutch government funding, we were hired by CBM International to support ELIM foundation to evaluate their inclusive education project in Benue State, their impact assessment and recommended new disability-inclusive education models that could be localize and make impact on the lives of children with disabilities.

Through our unrestricted funding, we have organised training to secondary school teachers in 30 inclusive schools across the Southern region of Nigeria on how to teach STEM subjects to persons with disabilities. We have supported the World bank AGILE project team to deliver inclusive education principles to school administrators in Northern Nigeria.

Disability Inclusive Workplace Readiness

We have provided disability inclusion assessment audit for Sightsavers led DFID Inclusion Works project for public and private sector organisations. They including the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management, Nigeria Institute of Public Relations, Unilever Nigeria and Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Inclusive Public Awareness

We conducted disability inclusion sensitization and UNCRPD compliance training for staff of BBC Media action and their media partners across three States in Nigeria. The training increased the knowledge and competence of the media professionals to reporting on disability inclusion in tandem with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the Nigeria Disability Act. Our approaches might look minor, but the catalytic effect is significant.
